Andrea Veal holds a Master of Arts degree in music history and a Bachelor of Arts in vocal performance from the University of New Hampshire. While at UNH, she was an undergraduate and graduate scholarship recipient and a winner of the Concerto/Aria Competition and Granite State NATS Art Song competition.
Equally at home singing oratorio, opera, or recital repertoire, Ms. Veal is noted for her purity of tone and emotional performances. She is a member of the early music ensemble Melopeo, a regular chorister for the Handel and Haydn Society, and a substitute for Boston Baroque. Last summer she traveled to London with the Handel and Haydn Society to perform Haydn’s The Seasons on the BBC Proms concert series under the baton of Sir Roger Norrington. Her solo oratorio work includes Bach’s St. John Passion, Mozart’s Mass in C major and Regina Coeli, Beethoven’s Mass in C, Rutter’s Requiem, and Schubert’s Mass in G, among others. Opera roles include Serpina in Pergolesi’s La Serva Padrona and Una della Ingrate in Monteverdi’s Il Ballo della Ingrata. As a chamber musician, Ms. Veal is heard regularly on the Musicians of Wall Street concert series at the Concord Community Music School. An advocate of new music, she sang the regional debut of Rob Haskins’ Three Songs for Thom last season. She is the soloist at the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Portsmouth, NH. |
